Spanish Language Transcription Specialist

Description:

KACE Company is seeking qualified Spanish Linguists to join its nationwide team for a part-time, on-site, essential services position. This role is designed to support real-time law enforcement efforts through live and recorded transcription, translation, and analysis of sensitive communications in Spanish.

As a linguist, you will play a critical role in national security and law enforcement investigations, helping transcribe intercepted communications, interpret slang and coded language, and provide clear, accurate translations and reports to federal and local clients. This role may include working night shifts, weekends, and holidays and is governed under the Service Contract Act (non-exempt status – eligible for overtime).

Key Responsibilities:

• Transcribe and translate real-time and pre-recorded conversations from Spanish to English

• Provide verbal and written synopses of intercepted communications

• Maintain reference materials, slang dictionaries, and voice libraries

• Use government-issued software and specialized tools such as JSI VoiceBox, Pen-Link, and Comverse

• Produce court-ready transcripts of calls, documents, and chats

• Manage a daily productivity log and follow required formatting protocols

• Collaborate with law enforcement officers, providing timely and accurate information

• Handle sensitive data with discretion and adhere strictly to confidentiality guidelines

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Fluency in Spanish and English, with strong grammar, punctuation, and spelling in both languages

• Minimum of 1 year transcription experience in Spanish

• Must type at least 45 words per minute

• Knowledge of colloquial, slang, and SMS/social media language

• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident (must have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years)

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance

• Successful completion of background checks, credit check, drug screening, and medical screening

• Required to score 3 or better on a third-party language assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing)

Working Conditions:

• Extended sitting periods monitoring live or recorded audio

• Work hours may be restricted while handling live monitoring

• Occasional climbing, lifting, kneeling, or pushing (less than 10%)

• Frequent use of telephone, keyboard, and related equipment
