Description:
The Barre Unified Union School District seeks a Special Educator for the elementary grades K-4 special education team for the 2025-2026 academic year. The educator will provide specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs, conduct special education evaluations, prepare IEPs and behavior plans, and facilitate educational team meetings. Coordination with outside agencies and supervision of paraprofessional staff are also key responsibilities.
Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Vermont educator license with the appropriate special education endorsement, or be eligible for a Temporary VSBPE Waiver (Provisional Licensure K-12 or ECSE Special Educators).
The position is full-time and onsite at Barre City Elementary and Middle School.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of or eligibility for Vermont educator license or provisional licensure in special education or ECSE.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Candidates qualifying for provisional license must meet at least one of the following:
Valid professional educator license from Vermont or another state
Expired professional educator license (2-10 years expired)
Major or equivalent in the provisional endorsement content area
Passed Praxis II Special Education (Test 5354) within 120 days of provisional license issuance
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
