Special Teacher

Description:

The Department of Corrections is looking to hire a Special Teacher for our Faribault Facility. The Special Teacher exists to:

• Provide literacy, English Language Learning, secondary credential, post-secondary preparation, and/or other adult basic education (ABE) instruction in a well-managed and comprehensive instructional environment to support offender Personal Education Plans
• Develop and use curriculum based on state ABE standards, and integrate methods of instruction - to include whole class, small group, and individual instruction - to serve all types of learners and learning styles.
• Assess, monitor, and record offender progress and to direct teaching assistants and offender tutors to promote effective offender learning.

This position will have direct contact with incarcerated students.
