Description:
This role serves as a SQL Database Administrator and Senior Developer, responsible for application development and database integrations using the Microsoft SQL Server platform.
The position supports reporting, vendor exports, data warehousing, and other enterprise data initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Data Development & Analysis
- Identify, extract, and transform data based on business requirements while adhering to established data governance standards.
- Perform data analysis and data profiling to support data cleansing processes and strategies that improve data quality.
- Interpret complex data and communicate findings effectively using advanced reporting and visualization techniques.
- Identify data patterns, quantify potential issues, and recommend solutions.
- Standardize, harmonize, cleanse, and prepare datasets for reporting and analysis.
Systems Integration & Interface Development
- Provide technical specifications and support for the development of system interface objects.
- Lead efforts to design, test, and validate system interfaces.
- Collaborate with State agency IT staff and Federal partners to design and implement data exchange interfaces.
- Inspect and correct interface partner files in production as needed.
- Serve as the primary contact for interface production issues, including monitoring nightly batch processes and resolving errors.
- Act as a liaison between the Child Support team and interface partners.
Database Administration
- Serve as the primary DBA for Child Support applications.
- Monitor database growth and performance trends and recommend normalization strategies and maintenance improvements.
- Ensure long-term database performance, scalability, and stability.
Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Design, develop, and manage data analysis reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
Governance & Architecture
- Maintain enterprise data stewardship and metadata ownership standards.
- Support the implementation of data governance policies, architecture standards, and data management procedures.
- Develop and maintain information architecture and data ownership training programs.
- Monitor regulatory and compliance guidelines (e.g., data retention and audit requirements) and assess their impact on enterprise data architecture.
Development Oversight
- Perform code reviews and technical reviews.
- Oversee the work of software development vendors and monitor contractor performance related to development and operations activities.
- Support project management activities related to system performance, batch processing, and online system performance.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator
- 5+ years of experience in large-scale system architecture
- Experience supporting large-scale production system implementations
- Experience overseeing the work of software development vendors
