As a Sr. Manager supporting Global Employee Relations (ER), you will be leading and managing multiple complex and sensitive employee relations investigations simultaneously, ensuring each investigation is conducted with objectivity, professionalism, and attention to detail. In this role, you will be conducting investigation interviews using cognitive interviewing techniques, gathering and analyzing evidence to reach fact-based conclusions, and documenting findings in clear, comprehensive reports that meet legal and company standards. Additionally, you will be advising and coaching HR Business Partners, leaders and associates on investigation outcomes, conflict resolution, and workplace behaviors, while identifying systemic issues and recommending proactive solutions. Through these efforts, you will be promoting a culture of inclusion, accountability, and respect by applying investigative best practices.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Leading complex employee relations investigations across global sites, ensuring thorough documentation, legal compliance, and timely resolution.
- Analyzing ER trends and data to identify systemic issues and recommend proactive solutions.
- Coaching and advising leaders and associates on ER matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and workplace behavior.
- Supporting and guiding disciplinary actions and grievance processes in alignment with company policies and local labor laws.
- Collaborating with Legal, Compliance, and HR COEs to ensure consistent and compliant ER practices.
- Delivering core HR services and people processes (e.g., performance management, talent reviews) as needed.
- Contributing to policy development and harmonization across global sites.
- Supporting change management and organizational effectiveness initiatives, including restructuring, workforce transitions, and culture integration.
- Utilizing workforce analytics and insights to inform decisions and improve people management practices.
- Promoting a culture of inclusion, accountability, and respect through proactive engagement and coaching.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 7 Years of Relevant Experience
- Background in Human Resources with a strong focus on employee relations, ideally within a global manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Deep understanding of ER practices, investigation protocols, and global labor laws.
- Ability to coach leaders and associates, using data and insights to drive alignment and action.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple cases and projects with competing priorities; ability to align activities with strategic goals.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and listening skills; able to communicate complex issues clearly and empathetically.
- Travel required: up to 20%
