Sr. Purchasing Administrator

 

Description:


We are seeking an experienced Senior Purchasing Administrator to oversee procurement operations, vendor relationships, and supply chain coordination. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, strategic sourcing expertise, and a proven track record of optimizing purchasing processes to support business growth objectives. This role requires on-site presence five days per week and offers the opportunity to build and refine purchasing infrastructure in a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes including requisition review, purchase order creation, vendor sourcing, and order fulfillment tracking
  • Develop and maintain strategic vendor relationships, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements to optimize cost savings and quality
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including operations, finance, and engineering to forecast purchasing needs and ensure timely material availability
  • Monitor inventory levels and implement purchasing strategies that balance cost efficiency with production requirements and storage capacity
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions, ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines and company purchasing policies
  • Analyze purchasing data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
  • Maintain accurate records in procurement systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal controls and audit requirements
  • Evaluate supplier performance through metrics tracking, quality assessments, and delivery reliability analysis
  • Support contract management activities including review, negotiation, and renewal of supplier agreements
  • Train and mentor junior purchasing staff on best practices, system utilization, and procurement procedures
  • Collaborate with accounts payable to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely payment processing
  • Generate purchasing reports and analytics for leadership review, highlighting key performance indicators and cost trends
     

Required Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, strategic sourcing methodologies, and supplier relationship management
  • Excellent negotiation skills with proven ability to secure favorable pricing, terms, and service agreements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships across all organizational levels
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of inventory management principles and production planning concepts
  • Experience with contract review and vendor performance evaluation
