As a Staff Marketing Data Scientist at Thumbtack, you will be an integral part of the Data Science team, which empowers the company to leverage data for strategic decision-making. Your role will focus on advancing measurement methodologies to evaluate marketing effectiveness across various channels. Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or economics
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Statistics, Engineering, Analytics, Math, Computer Science, Economics, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 0-5 years of professional experience in industry, consulting, government, or academic research; candidates with more experience are encouraged to apply
- Proficiency in analytical tools such as Python and SQL
- Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence decision-making
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and enhancement of measurement methodologies to evaluate marketing effectiveness beyond conventional approaches
- Create and improve frameworks, tools, and processes to make marketing measurement systematic, scalable, and reliable across multiple channels
- Refine existing modeling approaches to produce robust, actionable insights for marketing strategies
- Iterate on measurement techniques for key marketing problems such as channel incrementality and return on ad spend optimization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate measurement insights into strategic business decisions and growth initiatives
- Mentor junior team members, elevate analytical standards, and shape the future direction of measurement practices at Thumbtack
- Identify new opportunities where advanced analytics or innovative methodologies can create significant impact
