Staff Software Engineer

Description:

Circle, a pioneer at the forefront of financial technology and blockchain infrastructure, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Developer Experience (DevEx) Platform. This fully remote position offers the chance to help build the infrastructure that powers Circle’s groundbreaking blockchain-based tools, including USDC, and reshape the global payments ecosystem.

In this role, you’ll design, develop, and maintain scalable SDKs, APIs, and developer tools that elevate internal and external developer productivity. You’ll play a vital leadership role in technical design and mentoring, integrating emerging AI technologies to support the creation of intelligent, next-generation developer platforms.

This is a high-impact, senior-level engineering role where your technical leadership and architectural foresight will drive innovation and long-term platform scalability across Circle’s engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build robust SDKs, APIs, and internal platforms to streamline developer workflows

• Architect scalable and resilient systems with a strong emphasis on performance, usability, and reliability

• Lead integration of AI/ML technologies to enhance developer tooling and productivity

• Conduct in-depth code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and uphold engineering best practices

• Collaborate with Product and cross-functional teams to define solutions that support strategic business goals

• Identify and resolve technical gaps and opportunities for system optimization

• Uphold high standards of code quality, test coverage, and CI/CD practices

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience

• 3+ years of technical leadership experience in system architecture and platform design

• Proficient in NodeJS/TypeScript, Python, or Java

• Deep knowledge of API and SDK development with strong focus on developer experience

• Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, or similar container orchestration systems

• Familiarity with AI tools and prompt engineering using models like ChatGPT or Gemini

• Passion for writing clean, testable code with high maintainability

• Experience working with tools such as Slack, MacOS, GSuite

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)

Preferred Skills:

• Proven ability to create developer-friendly SDKs that are intuitive and hard to misuse

• Prior experience integrating AI/ML solutions into software development workflows

• Familiarity with distributed systems, scalable architecture, and high-availability platforms

Salary & Compensation:

💰 Annual Salary Range: $172,500 – $227,500
💸 Estimated Monthly Salary: $14375 – $18958
💼 Final pay offer will depend on experience, qualifications, location, and business needs
