Student Communications Assistant

 

Description:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, through its BYU-Pathway Worldwide program, is seeking a motivated Communications Specialist (Part-time, Student Employee) to join its dynamic communications team. This position provides a unique opportunity to support one of the fastest-growing and most impactful organizations within the Church, serving more than 80,000 students in over 180 countries.

The student communications assistant will work under the supervision of the communications manager and collaborate with teams across writing, messaging, design, project management, and digital marketing. This role offers valuable real-world experience in communications while also helping advance the mission of BYU-Pathway. Candidates will have the chance to build a professional portfolio by creating high-quality written and edited content across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit content for blogs, feature and news articles, emails, websites, video scripts and captions, print materials, and help resources.

  • Conduct interviews with students, staff, and other stakeholders to develop compelling stories.

  • Maintain and update the editorial calendar.

  • Provide support for administrative and organizational tasks within the communications team.

  • Participate actively in all phases of the content development process, from idea generation to final editing.

  • Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of all communications deliverables.

  • Manage time effectively, stay organized, and meet fast-paced deadlines with attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a CES school.

  • Preferred: earning or earned a degree in Communications, English, or a related field.

  • Strong writing and editing skills with ability to adapt to different mediums and audiences.

  • Familiarity with Google Docs, Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of Brightspot or similar content management systems (preferred).

  • Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Work Schedule:

  • Start Date: October 13, 2025

  • Hours: 20 hours per week (Part-time)

  • Shifts: Monday–Friday, either 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. OR 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must live in Utah or Idaho and meet Church employment requirements (worthy of a temple recommend).

  • This role is not open to applicants outside the U.S. or to BYU-Pathway students outside Utah/Idaho.
