The Assistant Scholarship Coordinator provides administrative support to the Director and Associate Directors in the management of the Office of Student Financial Assistance. The office is currently experiencing substantial automation and streamlining of processes and procedures. Due to these changes this position is undergoing and will continue to undergo changes in responsibility of tasks. The difficulty and responsibility of work is expanding due to constant changes to the Federal and State financial aid processes. These changes require that all areas of Financial Aid Operations achieve the highest level of accuracy.

In addition, substantial institutional liability is a consequence of any level of error occurring in the aid administration process. Failure to administer Federal, State and Institutional aid programs with equity, efficiency and without deviation can result in limitation, suspension or termination of continued institutional program eligibility. Lastly, this position has direct and indirect contact with students, families, other TCNJ departments and external agencies on an as-needed basis.
 

  • Provide information, reports and statistical summaries related to the operations of the Office compared to previous years
  • Work with both internal (staff) and external (students, families, lenders, vendors) clients in order to provide excellent customer service.
  • Answer all questions regarding a student’s financial aid and student's account via phone, email or in-person.
  • Handle special applicant or administrative problems by investigating the situation and taking appropriate corrective action.
  • Provide administrative support for the management team and serve as back up for any of the processing positions in the office as needed.
  • With the support of the management team, maintain knowledge and understanding of Financial Aid policies, processes and procedures.
  • Assist with special tasks or projects related to the handling of families with extenuating circumstances.
  • M aintain working knowledge of all Financial Aid systems, including but not limited to, PAWS, EDExpress, E-Administrator, Zimbra and all the Microsoft Suite products.
     

Works Independently:
 

  • This role may require guidance and will be monitored with tasks, but also has to be able to work independently on the day-to-day duties.
     

Required Qualifications:
 

  • Knowledge, experience, and interest in financial aid.
  • Strong Effective time management and ability to handle stress.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with other staff members as part of a team.
  • Must be able to deal effectively with a variety of different publics who have different needs, questions, and concerns.
  • Ability Exposure to processing student records supported by computerized systems.
  • Position requires extended periods of sitting and viewing of a computer terminal.
     

Education and/or Experience:
 

  • Associate’s degree required.
  • 1-3 years of financial aid experience
