Substation & Transmission Project Manager

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a passion for electric transmission and substation projects? Our large utility client in the Bay Area is seeking a Substation & Transmission Project Manager to join their Major Projects team. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role managing a portfolio of large load projects valued at nearly $300M.

📍 Location: Ideally based in the Bay Area, but open to candidates in Northern or Central California who can travel for occasional site visits.

Key Qualifications:
✔️ 10+ years of Project Management experience
✔️ Electric Transmission & Substation experience (REQUIRED)
✔️ Utility experience required; PG&E experience is a huge plus
✔️ SAP & Primavera P6 preferred
✔️ PMP certification is a bonus, but not required

Key Responsibilities:
🔹 Lead and oversee major electrical infrastructure projects ($25M+), ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery
🔹 Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and consultants to define project objectives and develop schedules
🔹 Develop detailed project schedules and cash flow/forecast plans, meeting regularly with stakeholders
🔹 Attend all project site meetings, including kick-offs, walkdowns, and constructability reviews
🔹 Hold project teams accountable for cost and schedule performance, ensuring compliance and audit requirements
🔹 Maintain and update project risk registers, proactively identifying and mitigating risks
🔹 Document, monitor, and communicate project milestones, risks, and status updates through regular meetings and monthly reports
🔹 Prepare and maintain monthly forecast budgets, analyze cost variances, and provide corrective actions as needed
🔹 Manage scope changes, contingency releases, change orders, and journal entries
🔹 Maintain thorough project documentation and collect lessons learned at project completion
