Description:
Supervises and directs employees engaged in activities related to mechanical work on equipment at compressor, pipeline, storage, gathering, and/or gas processing facility.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Supervise, direct, and/or assist employees performing mechanical work on engines and equipment at various locations including but not limited to:
- Internal combustion, diesel, and natural gas powered engines
- Compressors, generators, turbines, electrical equipment, and well equipment
- Vessels, piping, valves, instrumentation, and controls
- Heaters, boilers, heat exchangers, and related equipment
- Ensure completion of routine prevention, predictive, and compliance maintenance work including paper documentation
- Coordinate system improvements and modifications and other special projects
- Determine materials needed and prepare authorization for expenses (AFE’s) for major maintenance items
- Compile, prepare, and/or analyze various reports and correspondence including but not limited to:
- O&M capital budgets
- Oil sample analysis
- Contractor quotes
- Compressor set-up sheets
- Authorization for expenses (AFE’s)
- Vendor maintenance manuals
- Construction drawings and maps
- Maintenance plans and schedules
- Review oil analysis to determine potential problems and set Process Safety Management (PSM) frequencies
- Ensure compliance with company policies related to OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements, preparing appropriate documentation
- Provide information and/or assistance to management and employees regarding daily work activities, scheduling, operational changes, etc
- Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of: and understanding of compressors, turbines, pumps, and other rotating equipment related to the gas and gas liquids industry and use of related equipment
- Knowledge of: and understanding of instrumentation, electrical, and process control equipment and systems
- Knowledge of: piping, valves, pressure relief devices, and related mechanical integrity inspections
- Knowledge of: use and function of computers and applicable spreadsheet and word processing software such as Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to: apply of basic math and algebraic formulas
- Knowledge of: company/governmental operating and safety procedures, emergency response procedures, budgeting and cost management, and maintenance work management systems
- Ability to: interact, advice, and communicate effectively
- Ability to: train, direct, and/or supervise; working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures
- Ability to: compile and prepare reports, recommendations, and correspondence
- Ability to: read and interpret manuals, policies, procedures, permits, governmental regulations, construction drawings and maps, contractor quotes, compressor set-up sheets, reports, and correspondence
- Ability to: communicate and/or exchange verbal and written information and instructions; conduct oral presentation
- Ability to: operate tools and equipment required
