Supplier Development Specialist

 

Description:

Vacuum Solutions, a leader in innovative manufacturing solutions across industries such as electronics, medical research, renewable energy, food production, and infrastructure, is seeking a Supplier Development Specialist. This role focuses on supplier onboarding, qualification, and continuous improvement to elevate quality standards and supplier relationships.

The Specialist will manage supplier qualification, negotiate framework agreements, and ensure compliance with corporate guidelines (Code of Conduct, Conflict Minerals, NDAs). Responsibilities include supplier audits, cost and process optimization, cross-functional collaboration, and leading supplier accountability for quality issues.

The role demands strong analytical and leadership skills, frequent domestic and international travel (~50%), and the ability to work effectively within a matrixed organization. Expertise with quality standards like ISO-9001, 14001, 45001, and experience with Microsoft Office and SAP ERP is valuable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Onboard and qualify new suppliers following internal processes.

  • Manage supplier relationships across divisions and corporate entities domestically and internationally.

  • Negotiate framework agreements with key suppliers.

  • Maintain compliance documentation and schedule reviews for renewals.

  • Analyze supplier processes to reduce costs and improve manufacturing efficiency.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and project teams.

  • Attend and contribute to Quality Notification/Escape meetings; lead supplier recompense collections.

  • Support ongoing supplier monitoring related to delivery, cost, and quality.

  • Lead cost recovery discussions and hold suppliers accountable for rework and process improvements.

  • Conduct supplier audits and visits when issues arise.

  • Lead strategic sourcing projects and new product/material improvement initiatives.

  • Promote strong supplier relationships aligned with Atlas Copco’s Code of Practice.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in process/quality improvement, sourcing, or engineering.

  • College degree or 10+ years equivalent technical/manufacturing experience.

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn US Industry Standards and quality standards (ISO-9001, 14001, 45001).

  • Strong process development and documentation skills.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~50% expected).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Power BI; SAP ERP experience is a plus.

  • Strong team player with leadership and influencing abilities in matrix organizations.

Compensation & Benefits:
