System Engineering Lead

Description:

Akkodis is seeking a highly skilled System Engineering Lead for a contract role with one of its clients located in Racine, Wisconsin (Hybrid). The ideal candidate will have a solid background in legacy technologies including COBOL, Unix scripting, and DB2 LUW, with at least 6 years of relevant experience. This role is critical for supporting application maintenance, performance monitoring, and incident resolution while working collaboratively with other technical teams to ensure operational continuity.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Troubleshooting and Resolution: Diagnose, identify, and resolve technical issues in software applications.

• Technical Support: Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support to end-users, ensuring timely response and resolution.

• Application Maintenance: Ensure software integrity by performing regular updates, patches, and configuration adjustments.

• Performance Monitoring: Actively monitor systems and applications to detect and preemptively fix performance issues.

• Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed records of support procedures, solutions, and operational guidelines.

• Collaboration: Work closely with development, infrastructure, and QA teams for issue resolution and application optimization.

• Knowledge Base Management: Update and manage the internal knowledge base to document best practices and troubleshooting procedures.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in COBOL (minimum 6 years)

• Strong experience with Unix scripting

• Solid working knowledge of DB2 LUW

• Ability to handle both technical support and system maintenance tasks effectively

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
