Description:
Akkodis is seeking a skilled and experienced Wintel Systems Administrator to join their team in Orange, CT. This role is ideal for a dedicated IT professional with strong hands-on experience in administering physical and virtualized environments. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining enterprise Wintel systems while ensuring high availability, system security, and optimal performance.
The Wintel Systems Administrator will be expected to develop and maintain detailed process documentation, coordinate with engineering and operations teams for patch development, and assist in system audits and performance monitoring. The role includes oversight of computer resources, installation of new hardware, disaster recovery planning, and configuration management. You will play a key part in capacity planning, troubleshooting complex system issues, and providing technical support to client management.
Additionally, the candidate will ensure compliance with ITIL guidelines for incident, problem, and change management, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. This position also requires mentoring team members, implementing industry best practices, and staying up to date with the latest technological trends to deliver a high level of IT service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain both physical and virtualized Wintel environments.
Develop and maintain process documentation for system administration activities.
Work with engineering teams to develop and apply system patches.
Perform audits, monitoring, and tuning for system performance optimization.
Oversee installation and configuration of new IT infrastructure.
Support Active Directory structures and Group Policy implementations.
Manage and configure core services such as DNS, SFTP, SMTP, and NTP.
Provide system troubleshooting and technical guidance to client management.
Assist in team training, disaster recovery planning, and process improvements.
Maintain knowledge of IT best practices, security requirements, and emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Windows Systems Administrator or Engineer.
Strong expertise with Citrix technologies (XenApp, NetScaler Gateway, Storefront, Director, XenDesktop).
Solid knowledge of enterprise-level Active Directory and Microsoft Group Policy.
Hands-on experience with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP).
Experience with system documentation, SOPs, and disaster recovery planning.
Strong interpersonal skills and proven team collaboration ability.
Knowledge of ITIL practices.
