Queens Public Library, a renowned and forward-thinking public service organization serving the most diverse county in the U.S., is seeking a Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Specialist to join its team in Jamaica, NY. This full-time, on-site role is responsible for managing all facets of recruitment, talent acquisition, onboarding, and orientation processes, ensuring a seamless and professional experience for both internal and external applicants.

The specialist will coordinate and facilitate recruitment events, open houses, job fairs, and pre-employment verifications. As the primary liaison between hiring managers, applicants, and external vendors, this role requires exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The individual must maintain accurate records, handle confidential data with discretion, and contribute to high-volume hiring and onboarding efforts.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing high-volume resumes, applications, job postings, and applicant tracking spreadsheets

  • Scheduling interviews and meetings, preparing rooms, and coordinating documentation

  • Drafting job postings, offer letters, declination letters, and onboarding communications

  • Administering and evaluating applicant tests and exercises

  • Coordinating internal orientation and training sessions

  • Leading recruitment programs including Summer Youth Employment and internships

  • Liaising with colleges, universities, and community organizations

  • Completing background checks, reference verifications, and communicating employment offers

  • Managing recruitment records and ensuring compliance with legal and internal guidelines

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HR or onboarding

  • Strong written/verbal communication, time management, and customer service skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to handle confidential information and work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Friendly and professional demeanor with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
