EY (Ernst & Young), one of the largest global professional services firms, is seeking a highly capable Tax Manager to join its Financial Services Organization (FSO) within the Tax Technology & Transformation practice based in New York, NY. This role is ideal for individuals who have deep tax knowledge along with a passion for innovation and process optimization through technology.

The Tax Technology & Transformation team supports leading financial services clients, including top-tier banking, insurance, asset management, and real estate institutions, in transforming their tax functions to meet rapidly evolving regulatory requirements and business needs. The successful candidate will play a strategic role in delivering impactful, technology-enabled solutions that increase tax compliance efficiency and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Client Engagement & Strategy:

  • Lead and manage projects aimed at improving the operational effectiveness of tax functions.

  • Collaborate with clients to analyze existing tax processes and identify optimization opportunities through automation and technology integration.

  • Guide the design and implementation of customized tax technology solutions.

🔹 Technology Integration & Development:

  • Evaluate and enhance the use of existing tax technologies such as ONESOURCE, CorpTax, Vertex, and SharePoint.

  • Contribute to the development of tailored applications using tools such as SQL Server, VBA/VSTO, MS Power BI, or Visual Studio.

  • Embed tax requirements into core financial and business systems like SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, and other ERP platforms.

🔹 Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of onshore and offshore project teams.

  • Serve as a mentor to junior staff and facilitate their technical and professional development.

  • Communicate complex tax and technology concepts clearly and effectively to clients and stakeholders.

🔹 Risk and Compliance Oversight:

  • Identify and evaluate process risks; implement control improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations as well as internal standards.

  • Stay updated on emerging tax legislation, trends, and digital transformation practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 4 years of experience

  • Experience in financial services, tax, or finance-related transformation or technology implementation

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proven leadership skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset

  • Willingness to travel 30–80% depending on client projects

  • Ability to manage multiple high-impact engagements concurrently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as CPA, JD, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or PMP (must be obtained within 1 year if not currently held)

  • Hands-on experience with tax technologies like CorpTax, ONESOURCE, Vertex, or Sabrix

  • Development skills with RPA, Visual Studio, SQL Server, or MS Power BI

  • Knowledge of integrating tax logic within ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)

  • Competitive base salary with a range of $127100 to $233000 per year (adjusted by geography and experience)

  • Additional salary range for NYC Metro, Washington State, and California is $152500 to $264800 annually
