Description:
Wall Street Careers®, on behalf of a prominent investment management firm with over $25 billion in assets under management, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Manager (VP Level) to join their dynamic finance and accounting team. This hybrid role, based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional to oversee and enhance the firm’s tax compliance and reporting processes across hedge fund and private equity portfolios.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of partnership taxation, investment fund structures, and tax compliance, along with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage complex financial data efficiently.
Review and prepare partnership tax returns, including associated K-1s for private equity and hedge fund entities.
Develop and maintain accurate tax estimates and final tax schedules for multiple entities under management.
Coordinate and review tax allocations of partnership income to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant tax regulations.
Support the Head of Tax in gathering and analyzing complex financial data for reporting and strategic decision-making.
Oversee and manage the tax compliance process, supervising external service providers to ensure timely and precise tax reporting.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Client Service, Legal, Compliance, Advisory, and Investment departments to address tax-related matters.
Assist with ad hoc tax projects, process improvement initiatives, and efficiency optimization within the tax group.
Conduct reconciliations including book-to-taxable income, taxable income-to-tax basis, and master fund-to-feeder fund reconciliations, ensuring data integrity across all tax records.
Education: Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Taxation; Master’s in Taxation preferred.
Certification: Must be a Licensed CPA.
Experience: Minimum 6 years of professional tax experience, ideally within investment management, private equity, or hedge funds.
Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of investment fund tax accounting principles.
Expertise in partnership tax accounting, allocations, and compliance.
Proven ability to perform detailed reconciliations between book, tax, and fund structures.
Analytical & Organizational Skills:
Strong problem-solving and quantitative analysis abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-departmental collaboration.
