Tax Manager

 

Description:

The Tax Manager is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the High Line Park’s infrastructure systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, and specialty park features. The role ensures the park and associated office spaces are safe, functional, and aesthetically maintained.

The position involves both routine maintenance and responding to unexpected issues, supporting the Facilities Department under the direction of the Senior Maintenance Manager and Director of Facilities & Maintenance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair HVAC, LED lighting, electrical systems, irrigation, water features, bathroom fixtures, security gates/cameras, elevators, fire alarms, small gas-powered/electric equipment, wood furniture/decking, concrete, and steel.

  • Conduct daily mechanical rounds and readings.

  • Complete and document work orders using a computerized maintenance management system.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain small gas-powered equipment (snow blowers, lawn mowers, power washers).

  • Operate and maintain tools: drills, grinders, welders, table saws, air compressors.

  • Maintain water features: pumps, filters, chemical monitoring, UV system, seasonal preparation.

  • Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Perform additional duties including snow and ice removal in winter.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.

  • Good communication skills; ability to follow instructions.

  • Must pass practical and/or written exams.

  • Preferred: Valid NYS driver’s license.

  • Ability to perform diverse maintenance tasks safely and independently or in teams.

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extended periods.

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly and 75+ lbs occasionally using proper tools.

  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.

  • Ability to acquire required certifications (OSHA 30-hr, FDNY certificates of fitness, Pool & Spa Operator certification).

  • Comfortable using Google Suite and email.


Schedule:

  • Monday–Wednesday: 6:30am–2:30pm

  • Thursday–Friday: 2:30pm–10:30pm

  • Winter hours (Thursday–Friday): 12:30pm–8:30pm
