Durham Public Schools is currently hiring a Teacher for Exceptional Children in a Separate Setting (EC-DN) for the 2025–2026 school year at Oak Grove (Year-Round) Elementary School in Durham, NC. This full-time, 10-month position will begin on July 14, 2025.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting students with significant disabilities in a specialized instructional environment. This role involves delivering tailored educational programs designed to meet the individualized needs outlined in each student's IEP (Individualized Education Program), fostering academic progress, behavioral growth, and overall student development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement instructional plans aligned with IEPs for students in a separate setting.

• Provide direct instruction and modify curriculum to meet diverse learning needs.

• Collaborate with support staff, general education teachers, families, and specialists to ensure comprehensive student support.

• Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and participate in IEP meetings.

• Foster a structured and supportive classroom environment to promote student engagement and growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NC teaching license with certification in Special Education or eligibility for licensure.

• Previous experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities.

• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Commitment to inclusive education and continuous professional development.
