Description:
The State of Missouri, through the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD), is seeking a Teacher Aide to assist classroom teachers in carrying out individualized education programs for students with disabilities. This role supports student learning, behavior management, and daily care needs, ensuring a safe and supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement student instructional programs as directed by teachers.
Follow behavior support plans for individual students and accommodate their communication needs.
Supervise students during off-campus instruction.
Assist with daily self-care tasks including diapering, feeding, hand washing, and tooth brushing.
Support arrival and dismissal, including transfers to/from buses and classrooms.
Provide a safe learning environment and maintain confidentiality of parent, student, and staff information.
Lift and move students up to 50 lbs., assisting with changes in positions as needed.
Complete required reports accurately and on time.
Participate in mandatory in-service training (15 hours in the first year; 10 hours annually thereafter).
Maintain CPR certification at the level required by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
Travel infrequently for training and staff meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required.
Experience working with individuals with severe disabilities is preferred.
Other qualifications and experiences deemed acceptable by the Commissioner of Education may be considered.
