A leading manufacturer of high‑performance industrial coatings is seeking a Technical Sales & Service Representative to drive sales growth and expand market share within an assigned territory (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.) This role blends technical expertise with relationship management, solution selling, and hands‑on product support. You will grow revenue by managing existing accounts, developing new prospects, delivering technical service, running product demonstrations, and positioning the company’s coating solutions as the preferred choice for customers.
This is a field‑based role requiring strong problem-solving skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to educate customers on coating performance, application methods, and product benefits.
Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Sales Success
- Research industry trends, competitor activity, and market opportunities to align new business targets with the company’s product strengths.
- Plan and execute qualified sales appointments and quoting activities to increase customers and achieve revenue goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing accounts, delivering exceptional service and support to drive loyalty and repeat business.
- Diagnose and resolve paint, coating, and application issues to improve customer satisfaction and retention.
- Partner with technical and service teams to deliver product demonstrations, discuss new formulations, and present technical advantages to meet client needs.
- Organize and execute product launches, product enhancements, equipment training, and application support for successful customer rollouts.
- Represent the brand at meetings, educational events, and trade shows to increase market awareness.
- Maintain accurate CRM records documenting all sales activities, service interactions, opportunities, and follow-up actions.
- Gather customer feedback on product performance and communicate insights to the R&D team for improvements.
- Identify competitive threats and promptly notify leadership to support strategic countermeasures.
- Respond quickly to customer issues, demonstrating excellent customer experience standards.
- Support cross-functional teams (R&D, Customer Service, Sales, Technical) on special projects, product requests, or information needed to move opportunities forward.
Qualifications / Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business, Biology, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience acceptable.
Experience
- 3+ years of technical sales or customer-facing experience within the paint, coatings, or liquid chemistry industry.
- Hands-on experience solving application issues, understanding coating chemistry, and providing technical product support.
