Cloudflare is hiring a Solutions Engineering Manager – Commercial to lead a team of talented engineers across the U.S. and Canada. This role is perfect for a technology-focused leader who thrives on empowering teams, driving technical pre-sales initiatives, and working closely with commercial and mid-market clients to deliver meaningful cloud and network security solutions.
As a Solutions Engineering Manager, you will oversee a geographically distributed team of Solutions Engineers (SEs), partnering closely with Commercial and Mid-Market Sales teams to support the full customer lifecycle. Your team will be responsible for helping prospective and current customers understand, evaluate, and implement Cloudflare’s suite of services, ensuring high engagement and long-term success.
This is a highly strategic leadership role that requires strong business acumen, deep technical understanding, and the ability to lead and scale high-performing pre-sales engineering teams. You will be at the intersection of customer engagement, internal collaboration, and technical excellence.
Lead and manage a team of Solutions Engineers spread across various U.S. and Canadian locations.
Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and cross-functional stakeholders to support sales cycles, product demonstrations, and implementation planning.
Ensure high-quality, value-driven technical engagements from initial prospecting to ongoing client support.
Provide hands-on guidance and mentoring to team members, encouraging skill development and professional growth.
Promote and implement best practices in technical pre-sales and solution architecture.
Identify team needs, improve internal processes, and advocate for necessary tools or resources.
Collaborate on strategic accounts, crafting solution plans aligned with customer goals.
Maintain strong working knowledge of Cloudflare's products, infrastructure, and technical use cases.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or a related technical field.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in technical roles such as solutions engineering, product development, consulting, or IT infrastructure.
At least 1 year of proven experience leading or managing technical teams.
Strong background in cloud infrastructure, internet protocols, web technologies, and enterprise IT architecture.
Familiarity with full sales cycle engagement, technical evaluations, and proof-of-concept designs.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with a results-driven mindset.
Ability to present complex technical solutions in a clear and accessible manner to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed organization.
Annual Salary:
$207000 – $253000 in New York City, Washington D.C., and Seattle
Approx. $17250 – $21083 per month
