Description:
CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Pipelines & Terminals division in Chase, KS. We are looking for an Instrument & Electrical Technician to work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to optimize the movement of crude oil to the refinery. You must be a self-motivated, results-driven individual, with the ability to assess situations quickly to make decisions. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with high mechanical and mathematical aptitudes, strong trouble-shooting capabilities and the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and reliable equipment and systems to support pipeline and terminal operations.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot high and low voltage electrical systems, instrumentation equipment, and SCADA/Terminal Automation control systems for the pipelines and terminals.
- Ensure efficient 24/7 operation of the pipeline stations by maintaining equipment
- Provide 24/7 support for pipeline operations and provide troubleshooting and general support to terminals and pipeline facilities.
- Assess operating problems with consideration of dangers including high voltage and high-pressure rotating equipment, chemicals, and flammable materials.
- Oversee the construction, installation, and startup of capital projects.
- Develop project scope of work and ensure projects are completed as specified and within budget.
- Coordinate operational and maintenance items for pipeline operations.
- Provide assistance to the area integrity management program.
- Participate in Safety Committee reviews, meetings, discussions and solution development.
- Participate in safety reviews, training and emergency response with the Environmental, Health & Safety group.
- Remain current on safety standards, terminal operating procedures, environmental standards, and industry practices.
- Utilize a wide range of electrical monitoring equipment, computers, calibration devices, and testing equipment.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirators.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
- 1+ years of experience in Production, Operations, and/or Maintenance and/or Field Service Maintenance
Additional Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- 3 or more years of Instrument and Electrical experience
- Minimum of 2 years of vocational, military, apprenticeship, or journeyman, Instrument and Electrical technical training (additional years of experience may offset education requirement)
- Minimum of 2 years of Instrument and Electrical experience
- Experience with electrical monitoring equipment, computers, calibration devices, and testing equipment
- Working knowledge of high and low voltage electrical systems, process controls, pumps, and hydraulics
- Journeyman or Master Electrician
- Petroleum experience
- Experience with SCADA and/or terminal automation systems, PLC programming, VFD’s, and HMI’s.
- NACE training
- ISA training
- HAZWOPER Certification
