Tool Room Technician

Description:

Primetals Technologies, a joint venture of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Partners, is seeking a Tool Room Technician for our Sutton, MA location. This role involves operating both manual and CNC machines to produce precision products, tooling, and fixtures. The ideal candidate will work closely with the assembly and maintenance departments to meet machining needs while ensuring quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Operate a variety of machines (manual and CNC) to produce precision parts
✔ Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for machining operations
✔ Perform complex setups and work to close tolerances
✔ Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
✔ Use micrometers, Vernier calipers, and other precision metrology equipment
✔ Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to maintain quality standards
✔ Mentor other workers and lead the Co-Op Training Program
✔ Analyze tooling and procedures to recommend efficiency improvements
✔ Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
✔ Follow all safety regulations and company policies

Requirements:

✔ High school diploma or equivalent
✔ Strong knowledge of hand and power tools
✔ Experience using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, tool presetting equipment, Vernier calipers)
✔ Ability to work with both Imperial and Metric measurement systems
✔ Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
✔ Independent problem-solving and teamwork skills
✔ Preferred experience in CNC Milling and Turning Centers setup & operation
✔ Goal-oriented, process-driven mindset
