The General Motors Vehicle Systems Research Lab is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for potential future Researcher opportunities. In anticipation of these opportunities becoming available, if you are interested in learning more about GM, completing this profile will allow us to stay connected.

Hybrid: This position may not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week

About Vehicle Systems Research Lab

We need motivated researchers to join us in our search for 'what's next' here at GM's Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the research, innovation, and development of future various autonomous vehicle technologies. In VSR, you will get to work with test vehicles, simulators, state-of-the-art sensors, software, while crafting new solutions for tomorrow's vehicles. Your will research, prototype and test algorithms and software that are core to success of future automated vehicles. You will also be contributing to the vision of advanced fundamental AI/ML research collaborating with global research partners and universities. Who You Are

  • Work as an independent yet integral member of a research team developing true innovation
  • Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge relevant to Autonomous Vehicle Technology and Research
  • Generate intellectual property, document results, and publish
  • Represent GM in external research forums, university research partnerships
  • Identify research gaps, initiate, lead and conduct new ground breaking planning research projects for highly automated passenger vehicles
  • Demonstrate strong sociability skills while working collaboratively with global multi-functional teams and research organizations


Additional Job Description

What You Need

  • Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, etc), Computer Science, Physics, or other area of technical specialization
  • Keen software skills
  • Proven ability to develop project goals and plans
  • Desire and ability to bust through the barriers while executing project team plans and independently run research projects
  • Develop requirements, performance evaluation metrics and conduct performance benchmarking
  • Multidisciplinary engineering skills
  • Next-level sociability skills


What Would Be Even Better

  • PhD
  • Post Doc and/or direct Industry Experience
