Description:
The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is seeking an experienced and licensed Veterans Home Administrator to lead operations at its award-winning Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. This full-time, onsite executive-level role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of U.S. military veterans by overseeing long-term healthcare services in a state-run facility known for excellence and compassion.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure high-quality care and compliance with standards from the Minnesota Department of Health, CMS, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Lead, supervise, and guide a multi-disciplinary management team to fulfill the agency’s mission and deliver fiscally responsible, top-tier care.
Effectively administer collective bargaining agreements and ensure staff performance, satisfaction, and safety.
Oversee and manage the facility’s fiscal operations and budgeting with strong accountability.
Serve as the primary liaison to community stakeholders, advocating for veterans’ healthcare and facility needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Active and good-standing Nursing Home Administrator license from any U.S. state, with the ability to obtain Minnesota licensure through MN BELTSS by the date of hire.
At least 5 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting, specifically as a licensed Nursing Home Administrator managing human resources, budgets, and quality assurance.
Proven ability to direct large teams, handle multiple ongoing projects, and maintain high performance standards in regulatory and clinical environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
U.S. Military Veteran status
Master’s degree in a related field
Two or more years of experience as a licensed Nursing Home Administrator
Experience leading in a unionized healthcare setting
Understanding of veteran-specific healthcare needs and VA Home & Community-Based Services
Strong recruitment and workforce development skills
Additional Requirements:
Written eligibility confirmation from MN BELTSS (if licensed outside MN)
Successful completion of background checks, including employment and criminal history
TB screening prior to employment
