As the Vice President of R&D and Innovation, you will spearhead the complete lifecycle of product innovation—from early research to commercialization. You will lead the innovation strategy, manage cross-functional R&D teams, and translate scientific concepts into commercially viable, compliant, and scalable products across 503A and 503B compounding environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive and deliver the innovation pipeline, developing advanced strategies to expand Hims & Hers’ product capabilities and scientific competitiveness.

• Lead the end-to-end innovation process, ensuring a smooth transition from research to large-scale manufacturing and operations.

• Develop and execute an overarching R&D strategy aligning with corporate goals across regulated environments, including 503A patient-specific and 503B outsourcing facilities.

• Build and manage a high-performing team of researchers, formulation scientists, and development experts while fostering a culture of collaboration and scientific excellence.

• Establish and oversee R&D infrastructure including laboratory design, technology transfer, and analytical testing aligned with cGMP, USP 795/797/800, and Quality by Design (QbD) principles.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and innovations in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and supplement industries, assessing feasibility for product inclusion.

• Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for new drug formulations, delivery systems, and process improvements to reduce time-to-market.

• Collaborate with cross-functional departments (Regulatory, Quality, Medical, and Operations) to ensure compliance and effective handoffs from R&D to production.

• Continuously optimize R&D processes to enhance efficiency, innovation speed, and scientific excellence.

• Provide regular innovation progress reports to senior leadership and align R&D outputs with business growth objectives.

• Stay up to date on industry advancements, competitor developments, and evolving regulatory frameworks to drive strategic innovation.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Formulation Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.

• 12+ years of progressive experience in Innovation, R&D, or Product Development with leadership experience in pharmaceuticals or supplements.

• Proven track record of leading R&D and innovation teams, establishing new R&D labs and infrastructure, and managing regulated environments.

• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical product innovation processes, including sterile/non-sterile dosage forms and large-scale operations.

• Demonstrated success advancing products from concept through commercialization.

• Strong technical expertise in formulation, delivery systems, analytical methods, and quality compliance.

• Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with 503A and 503B facilities.

• Regulatory CMC preparation experience.

• Professional memberships such as AAPS or CRS.

• Background in medical or pharmacist fields.

• Experience liaising with regulatory authorities.
