Description:
We are seeking an experienced, strategic Vice President of Human Resources to lead and build our HR function across the Company. Based in Reno, Nevada, you will oversee all HR operations for our U.S. and Mexico sites, along with our Canada corporate office, driving talent acquisition, employee engagement, compensation strategy, and organizational effectiveness in a fast-paced, growth-oriented mining environment. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is pivotal in supporting our rapid expansion and operational transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with aggressive growth objectives, including talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning across multi-jurisdictional operations.
- Lead compensation and benefits design, performance management, and incentive programs to attract and retain top talent in competitive mining markets.
- Oversee employee relations, labor compliance, and workforce planning in both unionized and non-unionized settings.
- Partner with executive leadership on organizational design, change management, and culture-building during acquisition integration and production ramp-ups.
- Implement HR systems, metrics, and processes to enhance efficiency and support data-driven decisions.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian, U.S. and Mexican labor laws while fostering a high-performance, safety-focused culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with significant time in mining, natural resources, or heavy industry – ideally multi-site and international.
- Proven expertise in compensation design (salary, STIP, LTIP), talent strategy, and labor relations in regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian, U.S. and Mexican employment law; experience with MSHA/OSHA safety compliance highly desirable.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills; bilingual (English/Spanish) a strong asset.
- Ability to travel regularly to operating sites (Canada, Idaho, Mexico).
