Description:
The Vice President of Operations is a member of the Leadership Team and reports directly to the President. This role oversees the essential structures and services that enable the school community to flourish, including facilities, technology, and contracted services. The VP of Operations will serve as the lead internal representative coordinating operating and construction for any capital campaigns and major projects. We seek a leader who is not only capable of managing complex operations but also willing to engage directly in the work, supporting initiatives from the ground up. - Serve as a member of the Leadership Team, reporting to the President.
- Provide oversight and leadership for:
- Facilities (Buildings & Grounds): electrical, HVAC, plant maintenance, landscaping, housekeeping, and field maintenance.
- Information Technology: network stability and security, helpdesk operations, and security infrastructure (locks, gates, cameras, alarms).
- Cafeteria and Contracted Services: supervision of food service and other outsourced vendors (e.g., landscaping).
- Directly supervise the Director of Buildings & Grounds, Director of Technology, and Cafeteria Manager.
- Manage facilities usage and calendar, ensuring smooth coordination across departments.
- Oversee technology and maintenance helpdesks in collaboration with directors.
- Act as the lead internal representative for all capital campaigns and major projects.
- Build strong relationships with the Board of Trustees' committees (Buildings & Grounds, Security Ad Hoc, Capital Planning).
- Ensure that teachers and staff feel supported by an environment that enables them to succeed.
- Adapt responsibilities as needed to align with institutional priorities and their expertise.
- Responsible for carrying out duties that ensure compliance with ethical standards, and organizational integrity by working with conflict-of-interest policies with vendors, and applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of demonstrated success in a similar senior operations role.
- Proven capacity to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
- Experience in facilities management, technology oversight, and vendor/contract supervision.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with the Board of Trustees.
- Willingness to engage directly in operational work, not solely in a managerial capacity.
