Duties

 

  • Creates high-level design concepts for marketing and event campaigns including websites, web pages, email promotional creative, social media graphics, banner ads and print publications
  • Leads the design of all collateral for the Wilson Center and help decide what design products will best meet the goals and audience of each campaign.
  • Produces design deliverables as specified by the project while documenting design decisions and formulating development specifications.
  • Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with project team members and relevant stakeholders to determine project audience, goals, objectives and priorities, developing a product vision and strategy.
  • Prepare and present design concepts/work to stakeholders, articulating design thinking and decisions to non-designers and content experts.
  • Advises on the technical advantages and disadvantages of various formats, styles, media, and methods of reproduction, suggesting those that will best meet the information objectives of each project to ensure that design and production projects are expedited and produced within the limits of each assignment.
  • Develops standards, methods, techniques and policies for producing high quality graphic design and media for the Wilson Center.
  • Provides visual, strategic, and organizational recommendations, acting as a design resource for program/office partners.
  • Maintains all design resources, style and logo guides, and develops best practices and quality control processes in order to keep all design products that bear the Wilson Center’s name consistent and faithful to the Wilson Center brand and quality.
  • Provides training to staff and interns at regular intervals.
  • Reviews publications and other multimedia design projects to ensure they conform to established policy and standards. Serves as the Center’s final technical authority on design of visual materials, typography of publications, and branding guidelines.
  • Effectively manages multiple outsourced projects and vendors while completing other in-house projects simultaneously.
  • Maintains accurate production files, including billing, schedules, and budgets.
  • Procures bids from and monitors the work of print vendors and design contractors: coordinates the acquisition of graphic and photographic design treatments; handles the contracts and purchase order process for these visual communication services.
  • Works under tight deadlines, works on and/or manage several projects under time constraints with conflicting schedules, and is amenable to readjusting plans and schedules while adhering to the promised delivery schedule and scope of the work.
