HII-Mission Technologies Nuclear and Environmental Group is seeking a VP Business Development to lead growth pursuits in the Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The position will report to the Vice President for Strategy and Integration, Nuclear and Environmental business group, with authority to lead, manage and integrate all necessary activities to identify, qualify, mature, and win opportunities. Specifically, the applicant will have a background and /or customer relationships in the DOE and NNSA markets, project management, business development and/or communications.

The applicant should understand management and operating (M&O) and FAR Part 15 performance contracts, typical in the DOE and NNSA markets. The applicant will engage with senior customer Headquarters and local leadership and provide guidance to HII proposal teams for producing winning proposals in response to large, long-term contract bids.

The position requires confident, knowledgeable, and hands-on leadership that works collaboratively with all stakeholders while staying focused on delivering a winning solution. The applicant will perform market and economic analyses, conduct business intelligence, design, and execute formal capture plans, support marketing efforts, and monitor market and competitor activity.

This is a remote position.

What You Will Do

  • Grows and manages segments of the DOE and NNSA pipeline, establishes BD priorities, and works in conjunction with Nuclear and Environmental group leaders.
  • Provides leadership, management, and oversight for pursuits/capture activities towards a goal of meeting / exceeding the business development metrics for awards, submits, and pipeline growth.
  • Work closely with the President, Nuclear and Environmental business group and directly support the Vice President for Strategy and Integration, Nuclear and Environmental business group to refine the overall strategic plan and then develop a pipeline of opportunities that provide an opportunity to grow market share.
  • Continuously monitors the market and competitors to develop and position our strengths/ competencies.
  • Coordinates meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, and acquisition timing.
  • Participates in business planning activities, including operating plan development, bid agenda development, opportunity collaboration sessions and gate reviews, black hat sessions, challenge teams, win theme and discriminator workshops, and proposal writing and reviews.


What You Must Have

  • Candidate must have 10 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant progressive experience. Previous experience and/or current relationships within DOE and NNSA.
  • Candidate must have experience with the successful execution of all phases of a large, multi-year capture effort, including strategic planning, shaping, competitive analysis, teaming, proposal development, and transition to execution.
  • Candidate must be able to travel, as required, is estimated at 25-50% per month.
  • Clearance: Subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; current or ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.
