Description:

 

Learning Management System(s) (LMS)

  • Partners with faculty to develop their courses and to create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, etc.), exercises, activities, and assessment tools.
  • Assists faculty to embrace forward-thinking instructional practices and new technologies.
  • Researches and recommends best practices in the areas of instructional design, learning science and the use of high-impact academic technology and teaching practice.
  • Works in coordination/collaboration with the Distance Education (DE) Coordinator, Information Technology (IT) Director, and Instruction Office regarding the LMS System.
  • Assists educators in designing learning experiences that are engaging and impactful. Provides individual and group consultation services to faculty and recommends enhancements to integrate academic technology into instruction and assists them in designing effective online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses.
  • Consults with the Distance Education (DE) Director for institutional DE priorities and policies.
  • Serves on Distance Education Committee.
  • Provides technical support, diagnoses problems, and aids faculty, staff, and managers when they encounter technical problems navigating online learning technologies supported by the campus.
  • Responds to LMS HelpDesk emails in collaboration with Distance Education Coordinator.
  • Attends related meetings and workshops; performs other program duties as assigned


Website:

  • Designs, develops, maintains, and modifies the College's website(s), portals, and supporting web pages, based on management priorities, policy directions, and goals.
  • Creates enhancements and modifications to web sites; organizes and maintains the sites.
  • Assesses new standards, technologies, and trends, and formulates strategies and plans for ongoing enhancement of websites to ensure an accurate, engaging, informational, interactive, and user-friendly site for all stakeholders.
  • Works in coordination/collaboration with the Director of Community Relations and Communication and the Information Technology (IT) Director regarding website updates and changes.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders on training, design, content, review, and publishing.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders, develops, researches, writes/edits and creates layout for new sections/features.
  • Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to maximize the website as a tool for recruitment, retention, and continual student success.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Community Relations and Communication to produce a consistent visual image on the website(s), including maintenance of templates, image archives, branding guidelines, and tone.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs bugs and problems.
  • Provides and analyzes traffic statistics and reports.
  • Attends related meetings and workshops; performs other program duties as assigned


Accessibility:

  • Instructs and advises faculty, staff, and managers in meeting accessibility compliance requirements for online learning and digital content.
  • Designs, creates, and hosts effective and innovative faculty and student tutorials, workshops, training sessions, and institutes, using face-to-face, multimedia, and digital delivery methods, in conjunction with the adoption and deployment of digital learning tools and academic technologies on campus.
  • Works in coordination/collaboration with the Director of Community Relations and Communication, Disability Resource Center, and the Information Technology (IT) Director regarding accessibility.
  • Ensures that websites and online resources are accessible from a variety of different environments.
  • Audits online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses for compliance with accessibility laws and regulations such as Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility standards; make recommendations for compliance.
  • Attends related meetings and workshops; performs other program duties as assigned.
