Windows Administrator

Description:

RIVA Solutions is seeking a knowledgeable and highly motivated Windows Administrator to provide operational support for NOAA’s Global Monitoring Laboratory (GML) in Boulder, CO. This role will be responsible for the configuration, operation, and maintenance of all Windows servers, laptops, and desktops. The candidate will manage Active Directory and assist with other platforms including Linux and Mac systems. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and demonstrate strong system administration experience with a focus on security and performance.

Core Responsibilities:
 

• Install and upgrade Windows operating systems, including building and testing NOAA-approved deployments.
• Configure and manage Active Directory, applying necessary security and monitoring tools.
• Administer and troubleshoot physical and virtual Windows machines.
• Provide occasional support for RHEL-based Linux systems.
• Install, configure, and support peripheral hardware and third-party software.
• Monitor and tune system performance using diagnostic and performance tools.
• Document system configurations and maintain up-to-date system records.
• Apply and support IT security strategies in accordance with NOAA standards.
• Communicate with stakeholders to ensure effective issue resolution and system availability.
   

Minimum Qualifications:
 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in system administration in a heterogeneous Windows/Linux environment.
• Strong experience in Windows and Active Directory environments.
• Experience managing mixed hardware, VMs, and cloud systems, with knowledge of DNS and networking.
• Demonstrated experience providing technical support and troubleshooting user environments.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
