Description:

California State University, Long Beach (posting for CSU Chico campus) invites applications for its 2025–26 Lecturer Pool in the Department of Child Development, part of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. CSU Chico is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution and part of the CSU system, serving a diverse student body with over 14,000 students.

This lecturer pool will be used to fill temporary academic year appointments as needed. Applicants must have a passion for student success, inclusive pedagogy, and equity-based education. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a deep commitment to teaching diverse populations and engaging students through innovative instructional practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate courses in Child Development based on qualifications and departmental needs

• Deliver inclusive and equitable learning experiences

• Maintain high standards of teaching and student engagement

• Contribute to department goals, student mentorship, and program development

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s or Doctorate in Child Development or a related field (based on course requirements)

Preferred Qualifications:

• College-level teaching experience

• Proficiency in online instruction and use of LMS (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas)

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Experience working with diverse student populations

• Bilingual proficiency is a plus

Department Overview:
The Child Development Department serves approximately 215 majors and 170 minors, providing students with theory, research, and internship experiences across developmental stages from infancy to young adulthood. The curriculum emphasizes developmental diversity, trauma, resilience, family systems, and assessment strategies, with three supervised internships for professional skill-building.
