Accounting Analyst

Description:

Toll International LLC, a mission-driven construction management consulting firm based in New York City, is seeking an Accounting Analyst – Construction Audits for its internal audit team. This position supports federally funded construction programs for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ). The role will focus on conducting detailed desk audits and cost compliance reviews across a variety of major capital infrastructure projects, ensuring the transparent and compliant use of federal funds.

This is a full-time hybrid position, with on-site work required four days per week starting September 2025. Before that, hybrid work is acceptable. The role involves reviewing project invoices, labor charges, and overhead cost allocations, analyzing time and material cost breakdowns, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform desk audits of construction project invoices, labor charges, and overhead cost allocations

• Verify supporting documentation against contract terms and field reports

• Analyze time and material cost breakdowns, including subcontractor charges

• Evaluate internal control environments and project accounting practices

• Monitor expenses funded through federal grants or loans for full regulatory compliance

• Prepare audit reports, working papers, and findings according to Port Authority and IIA standards

• Participate in operational audits and limited site verifications as required

• Submit weekly time and training reports and maintain a minimum of 40 continuing education hours per year

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field

• 3–5 years of audit experience in construction, especially with federally funded projects

• Proficient in FAR, OMB Circulars, and internal audit frameworks (IIA preferred)

• Excellent analytical, documentation, and reporting skills

• High proficiency in Excel and audit tracking systems

• Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to respond to client needs

• U.S. work authorization and ability to pass the Port Authority background check
