Accounting Controller

Description:

OPUS Interior, a high-end residential and hospitality construction management firm, seeks a full-time Financial Controller in NYC. The role oversees all financial management aspects including accounting, budgeting, cash flow, forecasting, job costing, and financial reporting. The Controller supports the executive team with accurate financial data and insights to manage risk and profitability across projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting: accounts payable/receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, general ledger

• Develop and monitor budgets and job cost reports for multiple construction projects

• Implement internal controls and ensure financial compliance

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management

• Lead cash flow planning and forecasting; identify variances or red flags

• Coordinate with project managers to track budget performance

• Oversee financial audits and liaise with external accountants, banks, insurance brokers

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax filings, and reporting requirements

• Evaluate and improve financial systems, software, and processes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 5+ years senior accounting/financial management experience, ideally in construction or real estate

• Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, and construction draw schedules

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and financial reporting tools

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Work Hours:

• Full-time, Exempt

• 9 AM – 6 PM EST
