Role: Actuarial Data Scientist

The Actuarial Data Scientist role sits at the intersection of actuarial science and data science—offering the rare opportunity to blend deep insurance expertise with advanced analytics. You’ll work across Python-powered Databricks data pipelines and Streamlit-powered dashboards, transforming actuarial processes into dynamic, user-friendly applications that drive smarter underwriting, claims, and business decisions.

 

• Understand & Automate – Review current actuarial processes in SQL/Excel, then automate and innovate through Python-based applications.

• Ensure Accuracy – Validate actuarial assumptions and maintain actuarial soundness across all analyses.

• Build Data Pipelines – Develop robust Python pipelines to clean, validate, and model data.

• Create Dashboards – Design intuitive Streamlit applications for actuaries and other business stakeholders.

• Quality & Testing – Ensure accuracy and reliability of all data tools via rigorous testing and troubleshooting.

• Mentor & Train – Help actuaries upskill in programming and data tools.

 

Must-Have Qualifications ✅

• Experience – 2–5 years in a data scientist or senior actuarial analyst role, with exposure to both actuarial and coding work.

• Insurance Knowledge – Minimum 1 year working in an insurance context.

• Programming Skills – Proficiency in Python (or R with transferable skills), ideally in an insurance-related setting.

• Communication – Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
