What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Proposal Management (80%):

  • Support positioning and capture strategies in partnership with SC country offices and US technical staff: pipeline tracking, bid and competitiveness analysis, teaming strategy and partner selection, and proposal planning. Gather and analyze donor intelligence and market research to position Save the Children as a partner of choice and a strong competitor
  • Lead in proposal team management and capture management for strategic public institutional proposals; oversee technical, operational, and cost contributions to USG proposals from thematic, country office, and partner staff; write, review, and edit proposal sections; and lead in proposal production and quality control
  • Coordinate proposal pricing, recruitment, technical, and management leads, guiding and supporting the development of coherent, responsive submissions that reflect best practices in business development

Strategic Support and Representation (10%):

  • As needed, support technical colleagues with the operationalization of portfolio-level funding strategies. Provide project management expertise to track and advance progress on strategic positioning activities.
  • As needed, support market research tasks for various technical teams. This may include desk research, attending industry events and sharing learning, or other duties.
  • Maintain strong relationships with other SCUS divisions, SC Members, SCI leadership, and relevant external networks to share knowledge, collaborate effectively, influence senior leadership for sound and informed decisions, and stay abreast of industry standards and the USG regulatory environment
  • Build and strengthen relationships with and knowledge of partner organizations and represent SC effectively in teaming negotiations as well as industry networks.

Knowledge Management and Capacity Building (10%):

  • Strengthen the capacity of Save the Children International staff to respond to strategic opportunities through delivery of information training and tools, including country and regional trainings and/or one-on-one interaction with staff on proposal teams
  • Contribute subject matter expertise to NBD tools, resources, learning materials, and other institutional BD knowledge; drive SCUS standards for best practice in business development
  • As needed, assist the Senior Director, Knowledge Management & Learning, with the organization and dissemination of NBD tools and resources across International Programs and Save the Children International.
  • Support the analysis of Save the Children’s proposal performance, ensuring lessons and conclusions are documented, shared, and fed back into future proposal efforts

 

 

Required qualifications for the role

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience with program development, including proposal management, for large scale, multi-million dollar international development programs funded by USAID and other public institutional donors
  • Proven success in developing competitive proposals for the USG in similar sectors as Save the Children
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and direct experience developing proposals for USAID Cooperative Agreements and Contracts
  • Proven experience creating and delivering face-to-face trainings and blended learning resources in cross-cultural contexts
  • Ability to represent organization effectively in positioning and negotiation with partner and donor organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with individuals and teams at all levels, both internal and external
  • Attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple deliverables under tight deadlines, including multiple and competing priorities simultaneously and effectively.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 15%
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Proven copyediting and document production experience
