Associate Director Of Development

The Associate Director of Development for ADL Los Angeles focuses on identifying prospects, building relationships, and cultivating new and existing donors to grow the ADL Los Angeles Region’s portfolio and successfully meet personal and the organization’s annual fundraising revenue goals. The Associate DoD owns a personal donor portfolio and is charged with implementing targeted solicitation strategies to close gifts. This role works closely with the Region’s Director of Development and Regional and Divisional colleagues to drive community engagement and helps to lead the day-to-day planning and engagement efforts for fundraising events and special programs to engage local target populations and in support of ADL’s mission and initiatives.

This position will report to ADL Los Angeles’ Director of Development and will work collaboratively with ADL’s regional and divisional teams.


Responsibilities

Primary:

Assist the Director of Development in setting fundraising priorities and establishing financial goals.
In consultation with the Director of Development, identify, cultivate, build and solidify relationships with new and established contributors. Analyze historic patterns of giving and assist in developing strategies to encourage new gifts and increase contributions. Directly solicit and close gifts.
Actively build and manage a portfolio of 100+ individual, foundation and corporate donors and prospects with the capacity to make gifts of $10k or above.
Plan and execute fundraising events such as corporate and professional dinners, parlor meetings and special events. Coordinate event program, honorees and attendees as appropriate.
Demonstrate a commitment to ADL’s Culture of Philanthropy initiative, i.e., viewing development as relationship-based and long-term vs. transactional.
Work closely with divisional colleagues, cultivate, solicit, and steward new and established institutional (corporations and foundations) donors. May research and reach out to potential corporate sponsors or contributors.
Ensure all donor/prospect activities and communications are recorded in the CRM database in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Serve as an effective and enthusiastic ADL spokesperson and representative.
 

Secondary:

Participate in special assignments or projects to assist the Regional Director, Director of Development, or colleagues at the national level.
Participate in programmatic events to define and enhance fundraising potential.
Maintain an active, current body of knowledge of ADL and its mission, programs, activities, and fundraising priorities.
Uphold excellence in both written and verbal communications, as well as a dedication to superior customer service with an emphasis on relationship building.
Assist the Development team and ADL’s national team on special assignments to ensure long-term community development and supporter engagement.


Qualifications

Skills:

Proven ability to solicit and close gifts.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate concepts simply, clearly, and effectively, both in writing and conversation; superior attention to detail; exceptional storytelling skills.
Strong organizational and administrative skills, with a demonstrated track record of establishing effective systems that foster teamwork and improve efficiency.
Display a positive attitude and show good judgment, common sense, and excellent listening skills; committed to transparency, accountability, and direct communication.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
Comfort in working with colleagues remotely across the country essential. 
Ability to manage highly sensitive, confidential information using excellent judgment at all times.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook), donor research platforms (i.e. Wealth Engine) and database management software (Salesforce).
A great sense of humor, strong work ethic.
The ability to anticipate and be responsive to multiple stakeholders' needs, including individual donors and prospects, corporate and foundation donors and prospects, volunteers, and community members.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to see projects through to completion while meeting tight deadlines.
Must be self-motivated, have initiative and work independently, and be part of a team.
Ability to successfully navigate and thrive in a complex organization. Experience in a national organization with an affiliate or chapter structure a plus.
Working knowledge of Los Angeles and business philanthropic community including entertainment industry preferred.
Committed to advancing the mission and goals of the ADL.
 
Work Experience: 

5 years of fundraising experience including a demonstrated record of accomplishment of soliciting and closing 5-figure gifts.
Experience in direct solicitation and closing gifts.
