Description:

BMO U.S., a leading financial institution within the Bank of Montreal Financial Group, is seeking an Audit Manager to join its internal audit team in Omaha. The Audit Manager will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, effectiveness, and efficiency of internal controls, governance systems, and risk management frameworks that support senior management and the Board in protecting the bank’s reputation and operations.

This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional to conduct comprehensive audits, evaluate risk exposures, and provide actionable insights that enhance financial and operational performance. The role requires a strong understanding of the banking industry, audit methodologies, and emerging regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute audit engagements to assess internal controls, governance, and risk management processes.

  • Evaluate inherent and control risks while recognizing external and regulatory influences on operations.

  • Identify emerging industry trends and issues to inform management decisions.

  • Ensure all audit activities align with BMO’s Corporate Audit Methodology and quality assurance standards.

  • Provide objective assessments and recommendations to strengthen internal controls and risk mitigation.

  • Develop insightful and balanced audit reports that support the Board and senior leadership in strategic oversight.

  • Apply data analytics and digital tools to improve audit quality and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure open communication and strong working relationships.

  • Maintain professional independence and integrity in all audit engagements.

  • Continuously update professional qualifications and stay abreast of regulatory developments.

  • Handle complex and non-routine situations independently, ensuring critical issues are escalated appropriately.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience: 5–7 years of relevant experience in auditing, including 2–3 years in public accounting or consulting (Big 4 preferred) and 3–4 years in internal audit.

  • Preferred Expertise: Knowledge of stress testing, capital planning, recovery planning, CECL (Current Expected Credit Losses), and financial planning.

  • Certifications: Professional designations such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).

  • Core Skills:

    • Ability to influence and drive decision-making

    • Proficiency in data-driven auditing techniques


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $74,000 – $138,000 annually (adjusted for Omaha market)

  • Pay Type: Salaried
