We are looking for a Business Development Lead focused on creating new business opportunities for our SmartBidder software, which manages the optimal bidding and ISO scheduling services. As a Business Development Lead at Ascend, you will be accountable for the entire sales process, including interacting with the marketing team, growing and managing a sales pipeline, articulating the value-added unique capabilities of Ascend software relative to the competition, ensuring demos and proposals position Ascend favorable to win customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with other product teams to leverage existing customer bases as well as identify and prospect renewable energy asset owners, developers, operators, and utilities to grow a pipeline of opportunities
  • Negotiate and successfully close contracts for Ascend's ongoing optimization and bidding automation platform
  • Effectively communicate relative advantages of Ascend’s forecasting, bid optimization, and trading strategies for storage and renewable energy
  • Manage presentations and demos of analytic software solutions to in a highly proficient and professional manner
  • Manage sales through forecasting, account resource allocation, account strategy, and planning
  • Develop solution proposals encompassing all aspects of the products
  • Primary marketing responsibilities include:
  • Lead development of customer/prospecting events such as conferences, seminars, and webinars
  • Develop materials for the mass marketing channels and specific events
  • Enter timely and relevant data on opportunities and accounts in SalesForce
  • Develop and maintain key customer relationships
  • Lead development of case studies of software applications
  • Manage and run email marketing campaigns

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative discipline
  • Minimum of 4 years of business development, sales, or marketing experience, software or analytics sales highly preferred
  • Familiarity with wholesale energy market dynamics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interpret complex analytic solutions into value propositions
  • Professional attitude and presentation
  • Passion for clean energy, renewables, and the clean energy transition
