Description:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Computer Science Mentor to join the iFp team. In this role, you will mentor high school students as they build technical skills and social impact projects, while actively contributing to the development of iFp's digital projects. We're especially interested in graduate students exploring a future in Computer Science education, teaching, or ed-tech. This role offers real classroom-adjacent mentoring experience alongside hands-on technical work.

Key Responsibilities
Mentorship & Instruction
- Guide and support students in learning web development, AI integration, and game design through a project-based, just-in-time learning approach
- Help students develop the technical skills and problem-solving mindsets needed to build projects that address real-world challenges
- Foster students' awareness of and interest in college and career pathways in Computer Science
- Provide constructive feedback on student work and encourage creative exploration
Development
- Contribute to the development of iFp's web applications, tools, and student-facing projects
- Build and maintain websites using HTML / CSS / JavaScript / ReactJS, with designs handed off from Figma
- Support AI-related projects, including model fine-tuning, chatbot development, and AI-powered web apps
- Assist with game development using the Godot Game Engine when needed
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure seamless handoff from Figma to functional, polished web experiences
Qualifications
Required
- Professional or academic experience in software development or a related technical field
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python
- Experience working with or learning Figma for design-to-development workflows
- Experience with AI concepts and tools (APIs, model integration, or data science)
- Strong communication skills and patience as an instructor or mentor
- Must be open to learning new programming languages and technologies
- Passion for equity, education, and social impact
- Ability to commit to onsite hours, Monday–Thursday, 4:00–7:00 PM, at our Cambridge, MA location, beginning September 8, 2026
Preferred
- Graduate student focused on Computer Science education/learning, or early-career professional
- Coursework, research, or experience in CS education, learning sciences, or pedagogy
- Experience with game development (Godot, Unity, or similar engines)
- Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and AWS protocols
- Familiarity with Terminal, Git, and Bash commands
- Background in Python, ReactJS, or GDScript
- Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring youth in a tech context
- Familiarity with data science topics such as AI model alignment, training, and validation
- Familiar with data analytics and visualization tools such as GA4, Tableau, and AWS NoSQL
