Crisis Child Care Worker

La Causa, Inc. is seeking caring and dependable Crisis Child Care Workers to join our Crisis Nursery & Respite Center in Milwaukee on an on-call, part-time basis. This is a meaningful role for individuals passionate about supporting children and families during times of crisis.

As a Crisis Child Care Worker, you will provide safe, nurturing, and structured care for children while assisting families experiencing stress or emergencies. You will help ensure a welcoming, supportive environment, engage in daily childcare routines, and connect families with necessary community resources. This position requires compassion, patience, and dedication to serving children with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide structured, safe, and compassionate child care, including hygiene assistance, meal preparation, and administering medications.

• Support children with special emotional or physical needs while promoting healthy development.

• Welcome families, assist with orientations, and connect them to resources.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment both indoors and outdoors, while responding effectively to emergencies.

• Complete required intake forms, progress notes, and reports accurately.

• Uphold legal, organizational, and reporting standards, including mandated reporting requirements.

• Attend ongoing training (minimum 15 hours annually) and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.

• Collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to provide holistic support.

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED.

• Minimum of 1 year experience working with children (paid or volunteer).

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Must pass background checks, TB test, and physical exam.

• Ability to lift children up to 40 pounds.
