Delaware Technical Community College, Terry Campus in Dover, DE, is offering an exciting opportunity for a Culinary Student Intern to gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic academic culinary setting. This is a temporary part-time internship designed to provide students with practical knowledge and work exposure in culinary operations under the supervision of college staff and instructors.

The internship is ideal for individuals currently pursuing a career in culinary arts or hospitality and looking to strengthen their skills in a structured environment. The intern will work closely with culinary instructors and staff in various kitchen and instructional lab settings.

This opportunity provides exposure to the inner workings of a professional culinary teaching facility, allowing interns to build competencies in food preparation support, inventory management, and maintaining hygiene standards—all while contributing to a respectful and educationally focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist instructors in preparing and setting up culinary labs and demonstration sessions.

• Wash dishes, clean pots and kitchen equipment according to hygiene and safety standards.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of walk-in coolers and storage areas.

• Help with rotating stock and ensuring fresh inventory is available.

• Foster and uphold a respectful, collaborative environment among students and faculty.

• Perform any additional duties as assigned by instructors or supervisors.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED

• Ability to work Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM, or as required.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a team.

• Strong attention to cleanliness, kitchen hygiene, and operational procedures.

• Basic knowledge of kitchen tools and organization is a plus but not mandatory.

• Must be physically able to perform duties such as standing for long periods and lifting items.

Compensation & Structure:

• Hourly Rate: $15.00

• Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (or as needed)

• Job Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Temporary

• Location: Terry Campus – Dover, Delaware
