Data Migration Engineer

Description:

MOHR Talent is seeking an experienced ETL Data Migration Engineer to lead customer data migrations for independent Registered Financial Advisors and boutique advisory firms. This contract-based role involves traveling to client sites nationwide, analyzing legacy systems, mapping and transforming data, and ensuring seamless transitions to modern broker-dealer platforms without data loss or compliance risks.

You will act as both architect and executor of the migration process, directly engaging with client teams, implementing robust data handling protocols, and delivering accurate, compliant, and timely data migrations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process Design & Documentation:

  • Analyze existing client data schemas and workflows.

  • Define data mapping specifications and create detailed migration procedures.

  • Prepare polished client-facing documentation, runbooks, and SOPs.

• Data Mapping & Transformation:

  • Map fields, codes, and custom fields between legacy and target systems.

  • Clean, validate, and transform data using advanced Excel techniques (macros, pivot tables, Power Query).

  • Utilize SQL, Python, or ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica) for complex transformations.

• Onsite Execution & Client Engagement:

  • Travel to client locations and serve as the primary migration lead.

  • Conduct real-time validation with stakeholders and adapt processes as needed.

  • Train staff on new workflows and deliver final documentation upon project completion.

• Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Implement QA protocols to ensure 100% data accuracy.

  • Follow FINRA/SEC compliance guidelines and strict data security practices.

  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality when handling client data.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

• Advanced Excel expertise (formulas, macros, Power Query).

• Proficiency in SQL and at least one ETL platform or scripting language (Python preferred).

• Experience with sensitive financial services data and data mapping standards.

• Strong client-facing communication skills (verbal and written).

• High attention to detail and ability to manage end-to-end migrations independently.

• Willingness to travel frequently and work onsite for week-long engagements.

Preferred:

• Experience with CRM and broker-dealer platforms (Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, Redtail, Junxure, Orion, Advent).

• Previous consulting experience with RIA or broker-dealer transitions.
