Description:
This contract Database Administrator 3 supports and assists the Systems Administration (JNPS) organization within parent org Platform Services (JNP) at the agency. This assignment primarily focuses on Oracle RDBMS support, including ExaData. The assignment is integral in building and maintaining functioning database services for line of business applications to support human resources and financial management. The work required of this assignment must adhere to cyber security policies and be performed in a manner that is compliant with audit requirements.
Organization
The JNP organization provides unified communications platform, enterprise messaging, SMTP filtration, lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure servers operating systems, Identity and Access Management (IAM), database administration within the enterprise infrastructure, system monitoring, vulnerability management, Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM), Service Management Portal (SMP) and related operational configuration support activities that conform to enterprise policies, as well as Enterprise Scheduling services as a part of the greater JN platform services group. We have excellent access to technology, and can see incoming, outgoing, and competing technologies side-by-side and understand the benefits and shortfalls of each. The roles in JNPS are also liaisons between the organization and external/internal stakeholders, thus effective communications are essential. ASSIGNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
• Research, test, document, and develop standardized technical procedures for the deployment / troubleshooting of server hardware (or virtual machines), the associated operating systems and application software.
• Perform system vulnerability assessments using vendor native (Oracle Enterprise Manager) and third-party tools (Nessus), recommending mitigation options based on risk of exploitation after consideration of environmental factors.
• Serve as a service response escalation point, working with teams of varying technical ability in response to service availability and/or performance related incidents/problems.
• Provide recommendations for process/procedural changes that may become necessary due to environmental changes, upgrades.
• Support the design and implementation of highly available database solutions appropriate for workloads based on customer requirements.
• Support disaster recovery and continuity of operations through continuous verification of availability mechanisms and management of data protection activities (including backup and restore testing).
• Serve as a technical advisor for project and service response and related tasks.
• Operate a production Oracle Database environment using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c or 24ai Grid Control.
• Provide recommendations for process improvements and technical solutions that can be integrated into existing environments surrounding performance, operational efficiency, and capacity.
• Apply the processes/procedures in support of the following technologies:
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Oracle Enterprise Linux (as it pertains to Oracle DB)
• Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management)
• ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor) and AWR (Automatic Workload Repository)
• Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c or 24ai
• Recovery Manager (RMAN)
• Mark documents and maintain filing system(s), files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Share and disperse documents only to appropriate personnel (those with a Lawful Government Purpose (LGP) to know). Mark and maintain all official records in accordance with the Information Security (INFOSEC) and Information Governance & Lifecycle Management (IGLM) standards and procedures. Validate official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Corresponding Experience
• A bachelor’s degree in information technology (or closely related technical discipline) is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience is required with an applicable bachelor’s degree.
• 15+ years of experience is required without a degree or applicable degree.
• Experience should include directly related IT infrastructure administration.
