Description:

The University of Central Florida (UCF), a leading next-generation public research university, is seeking a highly accomplished dermatologist to serve as the founding Dermatology Division Chief within its rapidly growing Department of Medicine. This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of dermatology at UCF by establishing a new division with a focus on education, research, and cutting-edge clinical care.

The successful candidate will hold, or be eligible for, an associate or professor of medicine appointment in either clinical or tenure tracks. This position involves significant leadership responsibilities, program expansion, research advancement, and academic mentorship.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Program Development: Establish and grow the dermatology division, recruit faculty (general dermatology and Mohs surgery), and develop service lines at UCF Health Faculty Practice.

  • Research Advancement: Expand clinical and translational research with a focus on oncology, immunology, and dermatology technology in collaboration with UCF Cancer Center, College of Optics and Photonics, and College of Engineering and Computer Science.

  • Residency & Training Programs: Start a Dermatology Residency Program and integrate dermatology rotations into existing medical education and residency programs.

  • Medical Education: Enrich the dermatology curriculum, lead didactics, and participate in clinical rotations and student advising for dermatology residency preparation.

  • Clinical Excellence: Oversee state-of-the-art clinics with Mohs micrographic surgery resources, ensuring high-quality care, safety, and ethical standards.

  • Collaborative Initiatives: Establish co-specialty clinics (e.g., dermatology-rheumatology) for patient care, research, and education.

  • Mentorship & Service: Provide career guidance to trainees and faculty, participate in university committees, and support community health initiatives.


Minimum Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited university.

  • Board certification in dermatology.

  • At least 3 years of postgraduate clinical practice in an academic setting.

  • Proven leadership experience in building or expanding clinical programs, divisions, or equivalent structures.

  • Participation in Dermatology Residency or Mohs Fellowship programs.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.

  • Scholarly achievements commensurate with associate or professor rank (for tenure-track candidates).


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as Program Director for a Dermatology Residency or Mohs Microsurgery Fellowship.

  • Leadership experience in medical school dermatology curriculum development.

  • Record of research and peer-reviewed publications in dermatology.

  • Demonstrated interest in innovative dermatology technologies (e.g., high-resolution microscopy, photodynamic therapy, laser treatments).
