This position is a non-remote position located in Ogden, UT.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Evaluates 3rd party software
    • Compliance with government requirements
    • Suitability for intended use
    • Quality
  • Sets up, runs, and debugs third-party software (as part of evaluation)
  • Stands-up development environments and features in government AWS cloud environment
  • Performs requirements validation, tracing, and gap analysis
  • Performs software interface evaluations with respect to
    • Government standards
    • Government requirements
    • Integration between different third-party software packages
  • Performs system of systems software integration architecting and planning
  • Reports writing for all the above
  • Comprehends complex system requirements and architects a solution to provide the needed capability while honoring the constraints of secure/sensitive and no-fail missions
  • Builds and evolves an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) to meet stakeholder requirements
  • Designs and implements a DevSecOps solution aligning with modern DoD guidance for an ATO and/or continuous ATO
  • Understands complex systems and leads integration efforts among multiple component teams
  • Moderates discussions across varied external teams to identify and implement solutions to critical system requirements
  • Builds proof-of-value platform demonstrations for stakeholders
  • Deploys and supports developed products in stand-alone military environments (clearance and some travel required)
  • Educates technical and non-technical teams on the applicability, benefits, and use of an IDP for their individual areas of responsibility
  • Collaborates closely with cloud, security, and developer teams, both internal and external
  • Collaborates closely with military operators and program management teams
  • Continuously learns about new technologies and best practices
  • Identifies and improves value streams
  • Trains and mentors junior Platform Engineers
  • Helps establish SDL platform engineering best practices
  • Reviews the work of peers
     

Required Qualifications
 

  • BS degree or equivalent experience in computer science, MIS, engineering, or related field
  • 5-10 years of related experience and a BS, or 3-8 years and a MS, or 0-4 years and a PhD
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
  • 3+ years of Linux Experience
  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills, including an ability to prioritize multiple or competing technical tasks across one or more projects
  • Ability to fulfill engineering responsibilities on assigned tasks and projects
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Information Systems Engineering Procedure principles
  • Proficiency in Continuous Integration pipeline development and build-management troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in Continuous Deployment of software applications via containers or installable packages
  • Proven clear understanding and implementation of security principles that support DevSecOps platforms, pipelines, and supporting infrastructure
  • Ability to clearly present technical concepts
  • Production experience deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters
  • Experience with public, private, and bare metal clouds (AWS, vSphere, Canonical MaaS)
  • Infrastructure automation experience (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef)
  • Familiarity with software system design, development, deployment, and testing
  • Familiarity with Day 0, Day 1, and Day 2 operations
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (revision control, peer reviews, documentation standards)
  • Ability to serve as a technical adviser to Program Managers, customers, and stakeholders on software applications and solution
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills to respond resourcefully to new demands or challenges
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and with a team
  • Must be a self-starter
  • 2026 and 2027 will see some domestic travel (about once a quarter) to support component and system integration, debug, and testing
  • Occasional travel for site surveys
