Description:
Our physicists have provided diagnostic and nuclear medicine physics services throughout Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi for over 40 years. Our team of seven physicists currently provide services in all imaging modalities to a variety of facilities. We are seeking a new physicist to help us continue providing excellent service to our customers as we fulfill new requirements and grow in our region. Our newest team member can choose to live virtually anywhere in the states we cover, which include many urban settings with universities and medical centers, as well as natural beauty. Some travel throughout the region will be necessary, with an anticipated average of up to 5 overnight stays per month depending on where they choose to live.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensure image quality, patient/staff safety and compliance through testing of imaging equipment from all makes, models and vintages in all imaging modalities.
· Optimize image quality and patient doses by recommending protocol and procedure changes for clients.
· Perform shielding designs and on-site shielding surveys in all relevant modalities, including PET.
· Conduct quarterly reviews of nuclear medicine facilities.
· Work with state agencies to help clients with radioactive materials license amendments.
· Help clients in determining fluoroscopic skin doses, patient effective doses, fetal doses, staff doses, doses to the public, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS
· An MS or PhD in Medical Physics, or a DMP are preferred. Other relevant degrees may be considered.
· Board certification or eligibility in diagnostic medical physics (ABR or ABMP) are preferred. Non-board eligible individuals may also apply.
· Recent or upcoming graduates of CAMPEP-accredited residency training programs are encouraged to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS (continued)
· Any experience is an advantage, but not required. We can provide new physicists with clinical experience necessary to meet MQSA and ACR requirements.
· The ability or willingness to assist in multiple modalities is ideal.
· Expertise or motivation to specialize in a specific modality is beneficial.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
· The ability to work both independently and on a team as needed is important.
